LOS ANGELES (AP) — Jason Orange is leaving the British pop band Take That.

Orange and his former band mates made the announcement Wednesday on the band's website.

Orange said in his statement that he's been considering his departure since the group wrapped its Progress Live tour in 2011.

Take That's remaining members, Gary Barlow, Mark Owen and Howard Donald, described Orange's departure as a personal and professional loss. They said Orange's belief in the band is what made them so successful.

Take That is expected to release a new album later this year.
