THE WILDERNESS — Some people are good at celebrity impressions, and some people, it appears, are good at mimicking animal calls.
But no matter how good an animal mimic sounds to human ears, the only way to know if the call is truly spot-on is to test it with animal reaction. And that’s just what one man did with his coyote call while sitting in the woods.
The man sits casually with a gun across his knees, lifts his hands to his mouth and projects one of the most realistic human-made animal calls I’ve personally ever heard. He yips and howls, pauses then makes another long, forlorn call.
In mere moments, a chorus of coyotes respond long and loud with howls and yips and barks. The sound is so eerie that it’s basically like watching a 30-second horror film, especially when the man behind the camera whispers, “I just saw one,” right before the video ends.
