LAS VEGAS (AP) — Entertainer Pia Zadora has been hospitalized with serious head and leg injuries after a fall from a motorized golf cart driven by her teenage son near their northwest Las Vegas home. Zadora's husband, Mike Jeffries, tells the Las Vegas Sun the singer-actress suffered a head injury and a compound ankle fracture in the Thursday evening accident. She's recovering in intensive care at University Medical Center.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — After four days of repairs, a transportation official says a flood-damaged stretch of Interstate 15 between Las Vegas and Salt Lake City has one lane open in each direction for passenger vehicles. Nevada Department of Transportation spokeswoman Meg Ragonese says it could still take weeks to rebuild and open other lanes near Moapa. Big-rig trucks are still detoured off I-15 to a route that adds 50 miles and several hours to their Nevada-to-Utah trip.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A live mariachi is scheduled to welcome some of the nearly 6,000 visitors expected to fly from Mexico to Las Vegas for Mexican Independence Day weekend. McCarran International Airport says 42 commercial flights are coming direct from Mexico yesterday and today. That includes regularly scheduled flights and another 17 flights from cities that don't usually offer direct service to Las Vegas. The star-studded holiday weekend includes a boxing match between Floyd Mayweather and Marcos Maidana, as well as performances from major Latin artists including Juan Gabriel, Luis Miguel and Marc Anthony.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A Nevada judge didn't immediately rule whether a Saudi Arabian air force sergeant deserves a new trial following his conviction in the rape of a 13-year-old California boy on New Year's Eve 2012. The judge said yesterday she'll issue a written decision in coming days. Mazen Alotaibi's attorneys argue he deserves a new trial because a witness now admits he lied during testimony about how intoxicated Alotaibi was the night of the incident at the Circus Circus hotel on the Las Vegas Strip.
