BLUFFDALE, Utah (AP) -- A Bluffdale woman is pressing the city to expand its animal-cruelty code to cover larger animals.
Jody Tuft says that after watching six horses die of neglect on a neighbor's property, she wants to see the city offer protection to more than just dogs and cats. Those pets are covered under a new law passed by the Legislature earlier this year.
City Councilman Bill Maxwell says a change in city ordinance could make it harder for animal control officers to do their jobs.
Maxwell says the council hopes to review two different drafts of an amended code during its Tuesday meeting.
