LOGAN — Utah State has the cheapest in-state tuition among land-grant universities in the western and midwestern states.
Compared with similar universities in Utah, Wyoming, Arizona, Iowa and Texas — among other states — the 4-year school gives students the best education for the lowest cost.
The University of Wyoming charted the tuition and fees charged by schools across the country. When the data was compared with other undergraduate programs at western land-grant schools, the Aggies reigned. At Utah State, the yearly tuition is $6,185. Room and board costs around $5,620.
Those specific numbers are for undergraduate students enrolled full-time at Utah State with at least 30 semester hours. Housing prices are the average for living and dining on-campus for two semesters during the academic year.
Land-grant colleges and universities are those established using funds from the Morrill Acts of 1862 and 1890, to establish agriculture, science, military and engineering-centric schools.
