HOLLYWOOD — During the 56th Annual Grammy Awards, a 90-second trailer for Disney’s “Maleficent” was revealed to the world.

Set to Lana Del Ray’s unsettling reimagining of the classic, “Once Upon a Dream,” the trailer features a first real look at the scope of the film, as well as a better sense of Angelina Jolie’s take on the classic villain.

“Love the casting of Jolie, “ said Harry Knowles of Aint it cool fame. “The crazy cheekbones and the screen chewing she's doing looks great.”

The trailer maintains the same dark visuals as previous marketing for the project, but until now, exactly how powerful the fan-favorite villain would be was still under wraps. The new trailer however, reveals a foe just as powerful as that of the 1959 classic, and in fact, one that mirrors the animated version almost exactly — a decision fans seem to be very excited about.

As someone who was really disappointed with the previous teaser, I have to say the new footage is a welcome surprise. Had Disney given us this trailer first, “Maleficent” would have easily made my list of “Most anticpated films of 2014,” but as it stands, I’ll simply make the addition here.
