Gene Kennedy reportingA student assaulted a teacher at Thomas Jefferson Junior High this morning.

Two kids started fighting at Jefferson Junior High and a male teacher jumped in to break it up That's when he was hurt.

One of the students actually shoved the teacher's glasses into his eye. A staff member took the teacher to a doctor for treatment. He will likely have a couple of stitches since he was cut in the face;

The student who hit him has been removed from school and is a detention center right now. The school will also discipline him.

The Sheriff's Department says the student who hit the teacher could face assault charges.
