Experts say Utah is on track for normal winter

The National Weather Service says the state is on track for a normal winter when you look at the 30-year average.

"If we look at the snowpack from top to bottom, southern Utah is the winner at about 160 percent of normal," explained Brian McInerney, with the National Weather Service.

McInerney says the streams just east of Salt Lake are 120 percent of the normal runoff, and winter is not about to retreat. "If we look five to seven days out, we have nothing but continued storm activity," he said.

He adds that the last few dry years fooled us into thinking that less snow was normal.
