(KSL News) A confessed serial burglar who ripped off more than 300 Utah businesses could spend 30 years behind bars.
That's the maximum punishment for a noncapital case.
Thomas Freed, of Kaysville, was sentenced to two consecutive terms of one to 15 years in prison.
Freed targeted strip malls, stealing cash and postage stamps, then sold them on eBay. He always wore gloves and typically cut phone lines to stop alarm systems.
He usually got away with small amounts, but one time he took ten-thousand dollars in stamps.
Freed admits he pulled off his scam at least 314 times. Investigators say it's more like 500.
