OREM — Utah Valley University officials Monday released details of a new $54 million classroom building approved last week by the Legislature.
The new facility, which awaits the signature of Gov. Gary Herbert for final approval, has been a top priority for UVU for the past two years.
"The Utah Legislature's approval of funding for the new classroom building is a crucial win for UVU students," said UVU President Matthew Holland. "This new facility will help ensure that students and faculty members have the physical learning tools and atmosphere that is vital to student success."

The building is designed by CRSA Architecture and Method Studio, according to the university, and will include study rooms, faculty offices, 34 classrooms and a 1,000-seat auditorium.
UVU has seen dramatic growth since gaining university status in 2008 and currently holds the distinction of fewest square feet per student of any institution in the Utah System of Higher Education, according to UVU officials.
UVU is also the second-largest public institution of higher education in the state, behind the University of Utah, according to the most recent figures by the Utah System of Higher Education.
The groundbreaking for the new building is expected to take place this summer.
