LITTLE ROCK (AP) -- Utah will join 17 other states in a national effort to increase fishing license sales through a direct mail marketing initiative.
Designed by the Recreational Boating and Fishing Foundation, the program seeks to increase license sales while raising conservation awareness.
States rely on license sales to fund wildlife conservation programs.
RBFF provides each state agency with a template for mailing materials and instructions for implementing direct mail campaigns.
Utah Division of Wildlife Resources Director Jim Karpowitz says the program seems promising. He says Utah hopes to lure its "lapsed anglers" back to the state's waterways.
