DETROIT (AP) -- Another costly recall for General Motors, as Saturn announces a voluntary recall of nearly all of its VUE sport utility vehicles because of rear suspension problems.

The recall affects more than 246,000 VUE's in the 2002-2004 model years.

GM, the world's top automaker, has had a rash of costly recalls this year totaling several (m) million vehicles. G-M cited higher recall costs as a drag on its latest quarterly financial results.

Last month, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said the left-rear suspension failed on the four-wheel-drive and front-wheel-drive Saturn VUE's during a 45-mile-an-hour test that includes a sharp turn. Both times, a wheel collapsed beneath the vehicle.

Saturn says it will strengthen the VUE's suspension.
