Brooke Walker ReportingPolice want the public's help to find a man they say sexually assaulted a 14-year old boy. It happened this morning at Sugarhouse Park.
It's been busy all day at Sugarhouse Park, with a lot of people out enjoying the sunshine. Police hope someone there may have seen something, anything that can help them track down their suspect.
Around 10:30 this morning a 14-year old boy walked through the park alone. Police do not know why the teen was not in school, or exactly what he was doing at the park. They say he entered a restroom located just a few hundred feet away from a busy playground.
The suspect followed the teen into the bathroom, where he sexually assaulted him.
Police believe the suspect took off in a four door, silver, possibly Ford sedan that was parked in a nearby lot. Authorities have not had any problems in this park before and say this is an isolated incident. But it is a reminder for parents.
Robin Snyder, Salt Lake Police Dept.: "Always be aware of where your children are. And if they go to the restroom, make sure they are not alone."
The suspect is described as a white male in his forties. He has dark hair, a mustache and stubble on his face. At the time, he was wearing a blue plaid shirt, jeans and white tennis shoes.
Again, police ask anyone who may have seen this suspect at the park to contact Salt Lake police.
