(KSL News) A SWAT standoff in Midvale ended peacefully Saturday afternoon.

Police received a call from concerned family members just before noon. When they arrived, they found 30-year-old Jeremiah Elder barricaded inside a home.

They attempted to make contact with Elder but were unsuccessful. Officials also evacuated nearby homes as a precaution.

After hours of negotiating and waiting, Elder surrendered. Police say he has been depressed and recently got into some kind of altercation in Wendover. He also has a criminal history and a drug problem.

No word yet if Elder will face charges.
