(KSL News) -- Utah County authorities have more space to store things they cannot afford to lose. They have expanded their evidence facility, which can hold tens of thousands of objects from crime scenes.
It has the latest identification equipment for fingerprints, narcotics and chemicals, plus fiber and hair comparison tools. Technicians say it's critical to keep the evidence unharmed during open criminal cases.
Doug Squire, Evidence Technician: "We have to go to court and show that evidence is in the same condition as it was when the officer picked it up off the street."
Technicians can also compare evidence on a federal database.
