SALT LAKE CITY — On Friday, the principal of Emerson Elementary paid up on a promise he made to his students. He told them if they could raise $13,000 for the school's PTA, he would skydive.

The students met that goal and cheered on Dan Bergman as he landed on Friday morning. Bergman admitted that he had never done anything like skydiving, but wanted to follow up on his promise to the students.

"But these kids deserve it though," he said. "They are awesome. Way to go!"

Bergman also says he has now set the bar high for his fellow principals as well as himself for next year's fundraiser. He talked about how to top this year's performance by perhaps dressing like a school and landing in water next year.

He enjoyed the experience and had a good time with the students in reaching their fundraising goals.

"We just want to make sure that these kids know that they are appreciated and we love them," he said. "All their hard work should be paid off with some fun and seeing some awesome stuff."
