Tom Callan, KSL Newsradio Ogden fire is looking to Uncle Sam, not the city or the state, to beef up its staffing and buy new equipment.
The department has its fingers crossed, hoping a federal grant will allow them to hire three new people at Station 4 on west 24th. They also want the feds to pay for a new fire truck—the grant for it would be $400,000.
If the feds don't come through, fire officials say they will try to work with city officials to get the funding they need.
A city council audit says the department can't cover more than one big emergency at a time.
