Keith McCord ReportingThis isn't a dirty word, but have you ever "Kerfuffled"? Well, you'll have a chance, starting tonight at the University of Utah.

Don't panic, Kerfuffle is the name of a three-day music festival at the University. It's actually called "The Grand Kerfuffle". There are a number of bands performing and the stage on which they'll play is the largest ever built at the U.

But, first things first. What's a Kerfuffle?

Jessica Muffer, Associated Students Union: "Kerfuffle, the definition is a loud commotion, a stir, a hurly-burly sort of chaotic event."

And that "Hurly Burly" will be held at the student union Free Speech area at the University of Utah, starting this evening. With the school year wrapping up, it's time to party, and they'll party large on this stage.

John Lopez, Production Manager: "The structure is basically 60 feet wide and 40 feet deep. And the roof structure is the same size as well. Right now the roof is trimmed out at 24 feet off the ground."

It's the largest stage they've ever put up for this event. Production crews have been busy the past several days erecting the stage, setting the lights, stringing audio cable and stacking speakers in preparation for national musical acts that will entertain 8,000 people a night.

John Lopez: "The best seats in the house are wherever you can be. Because it is an open stage, there are no true obstructed sight lines. There are some limited sight lines, stage left and right."

The student union organizes two multi-day music festivals each year, in the spring and in the fall. Expect capacity crowds this weekend.

Jessica: "If you're a student, you should be excited, because it's free for you! You can get two with your student ID."

Among the bands that will be performing tonight are: Del tha Funkee Homosapien and the Von Bondies. Tomorrow will be Yellowcard, Mae and Over It. And Saturday, Blood on the Wall and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs will perform.
