CEDAR CITY -- Residents of Cedar City now have a much quicker travel option to get to downtown Salt Lake.
SkyWest Airlines began its twice-daily flight service on Delta Air Lines flights from Cedar City to Salt Lake City today.
SkyWest, an independently owned regional airline based out of St. George, will continue to offer daily departures to destinations around the world in addition to providing the local connection.
Passengers can look forward to flights on the 50-passenger CRJ200, which is designed to be one of the most comfortable aircraft in its class.
One-way rates between the two cities range from $80 - $100, and roundtrip flights cost between $150 - $170.
Mike Thompson, SkyWest Airlines Vice President of Market Development, issued a challenge to residents of Cedar City.
"We're pleased to bring jet service to Cedar City travelers," he said. "Now it's up to the community to build and sustain demand for its long-term success."
An open house to celebrate the new jet service will be held at the Cedar City Regional Airport on Jan. 12 from 4-5:30 p.m.
