SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- The state of Utah's Web portal -- www.utah.gov -- won first place in the 2007 Best of the Web contest sponsored by the National Center for Digital Government at the University of Massachusetts.
Utah's chief information officer, Stephen Fletcher, says the diversity of resources found on the state site is "staggering."
And, he says, a higher percentage of Utah's population goes online to get government information and services than in other states.
In the competition, state, county and city Web sites are judged on qualities such as innovation and delivery of public services.
Utah.gov also took first place in the contest in 2003.
