SALT LAKE CITY — Mass transit riders will notice some changes to bus and train schedules by next week.

Most of the changes are routine adjustments to improve reliability and allow passengers to make better transfer connections, said Utah Transit Authority spokesman Gerry Carpenter. The changes will take effect Sunday, Dec. 11.

In Salt Lake County, daily ski service begins to resorts in Big and Little Cottonwood canyons, continuing through April 14, 2012.

The Park City Connect bus will expand to run on Saturday, Sunday and holidays with three trips to Summit County in the morning and three back to Salt Lake County in the afternoon. The service also adds an extra trip up in the morning and back down in the afternoon on weekdays.

The Route 2X-200 South Express — a new route created to supplement Route 2 — will travel from the Salt Lake Central station to the University of Utah with limited stops.

Meanwhile, in Utah County, ski bus service to Sundance Resort will begin.

In addition, Route 822 BYU/Payson service will extend to Santaquin with limited trips. This is the first service to Santaquin since the city voted to join the service district last year, Carpenter said.

UTA said that in an effort to improve service, bus Route 811 Utah Valley/TRAX Connector will have fewer stops between the 12300 South park and ride station and the 10000 South (Sandy Civic Center) TRAX station. The route will end at 1230 N. Canyon Road and will not continue to south Provo.

In Weber, Davis and Box Elder counties, the 470 Ogden- Salt Lake Intercity bus route will discontinue service to the Lagoon Campground parking lot and return to non-Lagoon season Sunday routing. There will also be permanent implementation of the Pleasant View/Ogden FrontRunner Station Shuttle for the Route 616-North Weber FrontRunner Shuttle bus.

Lastly, the 630/632-Brigham City/Ogden Commuter routes will be consolidated into a single service route, designated Route 630.
