(KSL News) -- Fire swallowed a historic church today in Weber County.
Investigators say the fire started in the attic of the Liberty church around 9:30 this morning. Crews didn't know how big the blaze was until they went inside. They quickly got out and called extra crews for help.

Ogden firefighters responded, but the building couldn't be saved.
Ted Black, Marshall, Weber Fire District: "The roof caved in after an hour, hour-and-a-half into the fire."
The building once belonged to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but was converted into a home 15 years ago.
One man was living inside, but he was able to get out without getting hurt.
The building is a total loss.
