State Street between 90th and 106th South will undergo a major facelift beginning this spring. UDOT says expanding the road and intersections in that area is necessary. They're also unveiling a guide aimed at helping businesses survive.
A diner owner in the area is worried.
Diner Owner: "I don't want to think about it, because it's not a good thing."
In business for decades, they have some loyal customers. But the owner not sure even they'll come.
Owner: "There is nothing you can do when there's construction and you have business right there. And, that's my fear."
The guide urges business owners to be positive, proactive, creative and to work with other businesses to help keep customers coming.
UDOT says it does all it can to keep dust, noise, and congestion down. It says it even offers incentives to contractors who can minimize the impact.
