Torino Games Have a Component Just for Kids

The Torino Kids Village has two elements: One with an educational focus, the other just for fun.

Scenes like this may remind you of the 2002 games in Salt Lake City. Thousands of school children headed into a Olympic venue to see an Olympic test event -- World Cup Speedskating.

Are these kids enthusiastic about the Games coming to their community?... You bet.

"It's absolutely great, I don't know what to say"

"I'm very happy because this is a big event"

The Torino Olympic Organizing Committee -- called Toroc -- has developed programs for children that are education.. and just fun.

Daniele Bessone, TOROC, Media Relations: " Tor sure it's very important to have an educational program for the Olympics because it helps convey the values of the Olympics and the values of sports to children and educate them through sports...sport values "

Through the elements of sports, for example, weight lifting you can teach either to learn about the sport and also teach about physics"

Also in the kids village: things you can download just for fun....things like a puzzle picture , coloring books, and children's artwork. They are all designed to heighten the enthusiasm for the games, while teaching the values of sport.
