ELKO COUNTY, Nev. -- A Canadian woman found stranded in the Nevada desert survived for seven weeks on a little water and trail mix.
Rita Chretian and her husband Albert were headed to Las Vegas in March when their van got stuck in a rugged area of Elko County. Albert eventually left to get help but never returned.
On Friday, two ATV riders found Rita alive at the van.
"It's an amazing story. It's truly, truly a miracle as everyone's been saying," said Ken Dey with St. Luke's Hospital. "It's wonderful to have the mother back with the family but it's tragic at the same time to still have the father missing."
Search and rescue crews resumed their search for Albert Sunday. They are holding out hope he's still alive but say the area where he wandered off is "pretty nasty."
