ST. GEORGE — A man has been federally charged after he allegedly rammed his truck into a patrol vehicle on U.S. 89 in the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area over the weekend.
Gregory Aaron Farley, of Hazelton, Idaho, has been charged with one count of assault on a federal officer, according to the complaint filed in U.S. District Court in St. George.
The complaint was filed as part of a joint investigation between the FBI and the National Park Service following a pursuit that began shortly after 8 p.m. on Saturday.
At one point, Farley "swerved off the road and headed into the dirt" before turning around and driving in the direction of the officers, where he struck the driver's side of a ranger's vehicle, the complaint says. He then backed up his truck, and a ranger exited through the passenger side door of the hit vehicle.
After Farley hit the ranger's truck and backed up, both rangers fired their weapons at him, the complaint states. Once backup arrived, Farley exited his vehicle and medical aid was rendered.
On Monday, the complaint was filed in U.S. District Court, and the case has been turned over to Magistrate Paul Kohler.
