SANDY — A man died Thursday after his motorcycle was hit by a vehicle.

The motorcyclist was northbound on State Street just before 4 p.m. when he was hit by a vehicle attempting a left turn at the 8640 South intersection, according to Cottonwood Heights Police Sgt. Gary Young. The motorcyclist died from his injuries on scene.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured in the crash, and Young said that person is cooperating with the investigation.

The road was closed for several hours Thursday evening while police investigated, he said.

The identity of the man who died was not immediately available.
