SALT LAKE CITY -- A coach and student from Rowland Hall's Rowmark Ski Academy were seriously injured in a car crash after a racing competition in Washington.
The two were riding in a van with five other students on their way back to their hotel from the competition at Mt. Hood Meadows when another vehicle struck them head on. The coach -- who was driving -- and the student skier -- who was sitting behind the driver -- were flown to a Portland, Ore., hospital where they are being treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The five other students in the van were treated for minor injuries and returned to Salt Lake City Sunday.
The school has not released the names of those involved out of respect for their privacy.
