SALT LAKE CITY -- Utah Sen. Orrin Hatch says Republicans may not have the U.S. Senate yet, but they will soon.

Hatch said Wednesday the Republican gains in the Senate on Election Day should act as a wake-up call to President Obama.

"He's an interesting man, I like him personally, but he is so far left and has governed so far left that in the Senate, that's where the cooling saucer is," Hatch said. "With more Republican senators it'll be good for our country."

Hatch says he didn't think Republicans would take control of the Senate this election, but he predicts it will happen in 2012.
