WELLINGTON, Carbon County -- The Utah Highway Patrol has identified two people who were killed in a two-vehicle accident on U.S. 6 Saturday.
Johhna George, 46, and David George, 55, of Salt Lake City died just before 5 p.m. near Wellington after their vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with a semitrailer, Utah Highway Patrol trooper Amy Fallows said.
Fallows said the pair's relationship has not been confirmed, but it is assumed they were husband and wife. The two were traveling on wet roads through heavy rain, prompting investigators to suspect the weather as the cause of the accident.
The pair were headed west when their Ford Escort crossed into the eastbound lane and hit the semitrailer twice. They were not wearing seat belts at the time of the crash. The driver of the semitrailer reported no injuries.
