SALT LAKE CITY -- It looked like the scene of a movie Wednesday at University Hospital as emergency preparedness teams trained for disaster.
Firefighters lifted potential patients off the roof to practice what they might have to do if a 7.2 earthquake hit Salt Lake City.
While inside the hospital, nurses and EMTs treated people covered in fake blood.
"Inside the hospital we're preparing for possibilities that include no running water ... a breakdown of communications if we didn't have cell phones or computers," said Kathy Wilets with University Hospital Public Affairs. "So we're trying to plan for all types of possibilities."
University Hospital is one of only two Level 1 trauma centers in the Salt Lake Valley and would be the first line of defense in a real disaster.
