(KSL News) -- An update now to an Eyewitness News Investigation.

We first brought you the stories of narcotics police officers involved in busting meth labs. They had little protection and were trained to inhale the toxic chemicals.

Among them have been cancer, lung diseases, severe kidney and liver damage, and neurological disorders.

Well, a legislative committee today took the first step to cover the officers' mounting medical bills. It approved a proposal that will go before the legislature in February.
