BIG COTTONWOOD CANYON -- A man was killed when he drove his motorcycle off of a cliff in Big Cottonwood Canyon Saturday.

According to the Unified Police Department, the man was driving up the canyon just before 7 p.m. when he suddenly veered off the road near Solitude Ski Resort. He drove off a nearly 65-foot cliff and died.

The man was wearing a helmet and no one else was hurt.

Officials say the man was likely speeding but aren't certain exactly how fast he was traveling.
