RIVERTON — A motorcyclist was critically injured after being struck from behind by an SUV Friday evening, police confirmed.
The crash occurred near the intersection of 13400 South and 4000 West. Witnesses told police a white SUV was traveling eastbound next to a motorcycle on 13400 South, according to Unified Police Lt. Brian Lohrke.
When the SUV attempted to change lanes, it clipped the back end of the motorcycle, which sent the driver of the motorcycle off the road, Lohrke said.
The motorcyclist, a 47-year-old man, was flown to an area hospital, according to Lohrke. It is unknown if the man was wearing a helmet, Lohrke added. The driver of the SUV was cooperating with investigators.
