TOOELE — A motorcyclist died Friday in a head-on collision with a dump truck on state Route 112 about 3 miles west of Tooele, police said.

The male motorcyclist, whose identity had not yet been released, was headed west before the motorcycle veered into the eastbound lane and collided with the dump truck, said Tooele Police Sgt. Scott Schovaers.

The accident occurred about 9:25 a.m. and the motorcyclist, who was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, was pronounced dead at the scene, Schovaers said. The driver of the dump truck did not sustain any injuries.

Police were still investigating to determine whether drugs or alcohol were factors in the incident.
