WEST VALLEY CITY — Police arrested two women who they say lured a man to a West Valley City apartment where three males held the victim at knifepoint and stole his car, according to jail records.

Shanece Hayes, 24, and Reyna Pinedo Ortiz, 25, were arrested Wednesday after a man told police that Hayes had lured him with "sexual promises" to The Redwood Apartments, 4000 S. Redwood Road, early Tuesday morning. When he arrived at the complex, both Hayes and Pinedo Ortiz were waiting for the man and led him to an apartment, jail records state.

When he stepped inside, three Hispanic males held the victim at knifepoint and took his wallet, phone and car keys, according to jail records. All five then left in the victim's car, leaving the man alone in the apartment — which police later learned was not supposed to be occupied.

The next day, officers made contact with the women and spotted them walking away from the stolen vehicle. They took both into custody, jail records state.

During questioning, Pinedo Ortiz admitted to being the driver of the stolen vehicle and being present when the victim was robbed but said she was not involved in the planning of the robbery, according to jail records.

Hayes also admitted to implying to the victim that she and her friend would have sex with him but denied planning the robbery, jail records state. She said some friends whose identities she did not know came and robbed him.

Charging documents show that Hayes said her intention was to lure the man to the apartment, do drugs and trick him into giving her money.

Both Pinedo Ortiz and Hayes admitted to fleeing with the three males and using the vehicle throughout the next day, jail records state.

The women were booked into Salt Lake County Jail Wednesday. They were charged Friday afternoon with aggravated robbery.

Police are still searching for the three males involved in the robbery.
