NEPHI -- Juab County prosecutors have leveled first-degree felony rape and forcible sodomy charges against a Millard High School teacher accused of carrying on a sexual relationship with a teenage girl.

The charges were filed last week against Keith Lorraine Gillins, 61, accusing him of engaging in sexual acts with a teenage girl over the Easter weekend of this year. Court records indicate Gillins was arrested on the new charges and booked into the Juab County Jail.

Gillins is facing similar charges in neighboring Millard County, where he was due to appear in 4th District Court Wednesday. Court records indicate the hearing was continued until Aug. 3. He is charged with 15 counts of felony rape and forcible sex abuse in that case.

Gillins is accused of having a sexual relationship with the girl, who was a student in one of his classes. Gillins was not only a teacher at the school but also at one time was the mayor of Fillmore and an LDS bishop.
