THE PORCH — I need to start this post by letting everyone know I do not condone not listening to your parents and trying to sneak into your home past curfew. With that said, we've all been there.
Now that I'm in my mid-30s, I can't get grounded anymore and can say I snuck into my parents home through the upstairs window more than once. But even when I thought I got away with it, my mom almost always knew.
Moms have a way of always knowing. Now it's even easier for moms to know thanks to doorbell cameras and kids that are terrible at sneaking around, like the one in this video.
The setup here is pretty simple: Son comes home late, sees the camera, and then tries to sneak into the house without being caught. I have to assume this guy has never seen what the video from this camera actually looks like. If he had, I think he'd know he was in plain view the whole time.
Even though his attempt was a C- at best, I still have to applaud his dedication. Dropping to his stomach, slithering across the concrete to then open the storm door and get the key into the lock before stepping inside is admirable. It was a terrible attempt, but an attempt was made — and that's what really counts.
I do have to wonder, however, if this kid knew what he was doing all along. Maybe he did this on purpose so that his mom would be so stunned and amused at his pitiful attempt that she couldn't muster up the anger to actually be angry. Or maybe her son's low intelligence at that moment fueled her anger.
I really don't know, but I do know I love this video.
