THE SPORTS COMPLEX — I don't think I could count the number of times I've heard the advice, "keep your eye on the ball, John," throughout my life. Between playing multiple sports and also receiving encouragement at work and other events, it's just become a normal part of my life.
Now that my 5-year-old son is playing T-ball, I've used the term a fair amount myself. But for my boy, who has the attention span of a baby rabbit, I'm also saying things like, "Get off the monkey bars and back onto the field," or "No, you need to keep your pants on," more than I'm saying, "Keep your eye on the ball."
I do wish, however, that my son took the pants directive as literally as the little boy from this video takes the "keep your eye on the ball" direction.
This little guy's name is Noel, and it sounds like his mom is trying to teach him how to swing a golf club. The little dude looks pretty stylish in his vest, hoodie and red Yankees cap, which is important in golf. Sometimes your flashy attire can distract from your terrible swing.
Yesterday's Have You Seen This?
Noel's swing might not actually be bad, but we don't get a chance to see. Because when his mom jumps in with the "keep your eye on the ball" advice, Noel does just that. He puts his eye on the ball, literally.
Noel's mom can't handle it and starts laughing and this little golfer isn't totally sure what's so funny. He's possibly thinking, "I'll laugh with you because it's fun, but I just did what you said."
If Noel looks familiar you may have seen him a couple of years ago when he was just a toddler giving you the names of all of his dinosaur toys. Between his paleontology skills, golf skills and following directions skills, Noel has a bright future.
