THE POLAR VORTEX — When it gets really cold I like to complain to my brother who lives in Los Angeles. I'll send him screenshots of my weather app showing that it's 17 degrees outside, but it feels like three.

Considering what's happening in the Midwest and east coast right now with the polar vortex, I don't think I'm going to complain anymore.

The polar vortex is a wide expanse of cold air in the polar regions. The polar vortex at the North Pole expands during the winter, sends that cold air south and causes minus 40 degree weather in some areas. Yes, that reads more than 40 degrees below zero.

A woman caught in this insane weather decided to see what happens when you throw a cup of boiling water into the air in that kind of cold.

While the boiling water instantly turned to vapor, that's not what impresses me the most about this video.

Another amazing thing is that this woman decided to brave the intense cold to get this great video. But that's not what amazes me the most either. You might think it's her camera work skills: that she got the water to turn to vapor in view of the camera while she tossed the cup with one hand and held the camera with the other, but no, that's not it either.

Yesterday's Have You Seen This?

The most amazing and impressive thing about this video is when she steps outside and feels the cold. What's the first thing she says? "Holy buckets."

I've never heard this incredible exclamation and I cannot wait to start using it all the time. I'd like to apologize to my wife in advance for how much this will drive her insane, but, holy buckets, I just can't help myself.

Also: Don't try this experiment at home. Those who ignore this message, make sure you search the interwebs for how to safely accomplish this feat. Or, play it safe and watch vids of other people. (
