THE MUSEUM — It’s a true fact that the Hollywood machine loves remaking previously proven franchises for profit reasons.

Sometimes, these movie or TV reboots and remakes are successful, and sometimes they tank harder than a Nazi plot to find and weaponize the Ark of the Covenant. However, I believe we can all agree that when a reboot is successful, there’s a little part of the younger in us that squeals with reckless delight as we relive the awe-inspiring moments of great movie experiences of yore. (I’m looking at you, “The Force Awakens.”)

A resurrection of a franchise gone by usually turns up in a big-budget summer blockbuster, but maybe Hollywood has far too long overlooked a continuation medium favorite of the 80s — animation.

“Ghostbusters,” “Back to the Future,” “Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure,” “Beetlejuice” and more all had an animated series, and this new video just might convince those Hollywood execs that animation is once again ripe for a new adventure.

Artist Patrick Schoenmaker recently released a fan video of what he thinks the opening sequence of “The Adventures of Indiana Jones” animated series would look like, and frankly, it’s awesome — like, really awesome. Indy fights, whips, adventures and romances his way through the sequence, and it’s everything my 8-year-old heart could’ve hoped for.

According to the video’s description, this pet project took Schoenmaker five years to complete, but that doesn’t mean it’s not the freshest idea on the market. Well, it’s the freshest idea as far as this freelance writer for a regional news outlet is concerned.

This video comes on the heels of another animated fan video, which was based on the too-soon-canceled cult favorite “Firefly.” I for one hope this trend continues, even if it’s only ever in short animated homages that make my original viewing experiences come crashing through my memory.
