SPANISH FORK — A Spanish Fork woman was hospitalized Saturday after accidentally shooting herself with a gun before her grandchildren were supposed to come for a visit.
The 55-year-old woman was putting away a .22-caliber revolver in her home near 300 West and Villa Circle just before 4:00p.m., Spanish Fork police officer Tyler Beddoes said.
According to Beddoes, the single, accidental shot entered just above the woman's belly button and did not exit her body.
She was transported to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center alert, conscious and talking. Further details about her medical condition were unknown.
