IRON COUNTY — A semitruck lost control and tipped over on I-15 Friday morning on the downside of the Black Ridge between Cedar City and St. George, causing a vehicle driven by a pregnant woman to crash into the semitrailer.

The semitruck, which was carrying 39,000 pounds of potatoes, landed on its driver’s side, according to Utah Highway Patrol. The woman traveling in a small Mazda then slid into the semitrailer.

The woman was shaken up and both she and the semi driver were taken to Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George.

UHP said there was a large backup on I-15 from the Washington/Iron County line because of the accident.
