YELLOWSTONE — Aside from the eagle, the bison is arguably the most American-identified animal.
After all, it’s hard not to think of spacious skies, purple mountains majesty, amber waves of grain and fruited plains when you think of bison moving across the land.
There’s also something stately about bison on the run, moving in large herds with bison big and small, young and old. You just have to look up "bison run" and YouTube and see that many, many others feel the same.
But, if you’ve seen one video of a bison run, you’ve seen them all, right?
Wrong.
The video featured today had something special, something to give your funny bone a light tickle.
When the video starts, it is quite awe-inspiring. Bison are intimidatingly big, and the sound of their hooves on the pavement and their snorts of effort all work together to paint a striking picture.
That being said, you might want to bail at 15 seconds or maybe even 30. But if you hang on a little longer to second 47, you will see why this video is worth a little more time.
It’s a bison (obviously), with his tongue out and swinging down low. Within all this majesty, of course there has got to be a class clown. But you know what? There’s nothing more American than practicing free speech, and this bison’s "speech" is about as free as you can get.
