MORGAN — A man arrested for investigation of stealing a $40,000 BMW has a history of stealing cars.
But investigators were still unsure Monday what the man intended to do with the vehicle over the weekend.
Chad M. Stewart, 35, was arrested Sunday in Morgan after police received a tip of the exclusive car parked in a driveway of a relative's house. Stewart is from the Washington, D.C., area.

According to Salt Lake County Jail documents released Monday, Stewart has several felony convictions in Virginia and was restricted from carrying a firearm.
Detectives believe Stewart went to Exclusive Cars, 40 E. 3300 South, on Friday and asked to test drive a BMW M5. When he got to Parley's Canyon, however, police say he pulled over, pointed a gun at the car dealer and told him to get out.
Investigators later learned the Mini Cooper Stewart had arrived at the dealership in was stolen from a car rental company in Washington, D.C., in 2007, according to jail records. The South Carolina license plate on the Mini Cooper was stolen off a GMC truck, according to jail documents.
Stewart told police the gun he allegedly used in the carjacking was a "prop ... loaded with blanks."
He does not have any previous convictions in Utah, according to Utah court records. It was unclear Monday how long he had been in Utah.
