SALT LAKE CITY — Four people, including one firefighter, received minor injuries after a fire ripped through an apartment complex early Saturday morning.
Crews received a report of a fire at the Westcliff Apartments at 419 E. 200 South at about 1:46 a.m., officials at the Salt Lake Fire Department said. According to officials, firefighters on scene had to make two rescues from inside the building and two more from a fire escape while fighting the blaze.

One firefighter received a “minor traumatic injury” after getting hit by a tool and was also taken to the hospital. Three cats and a dog were also saved in the fire, officials said.

Investigators did not disclose exactly how many people were displaced by the fire, but added Red Cross was assisting those who were displaced.
While the exact ignition source has not yet been identified, investigators said they determined the cause of the fire was accidental. It started on the third floor in a unit in the northeast corner.
