SANDY — Sandy police are looking for the driver involved in a road rage incident that ended in a shooting on Thursday.
Around noon, two drivers got into a road rage confrontation, said Sandy Police Sgt. Michael Olsen. Details on what started the confrontation were still being investigated. One driver was in each vehicle and no passengers.
While both vehicles were headed south on State Street, with the victim in the far right lane and the gunman in the middle lane, Olsen says the gunman fired at least two shots at the other vehicle near 9800 South.
One shot hit the victim driver's door, and another went through the driver's side window. Fortunately, no one was injured, Olsen said.
The victim called 911 and waited for police to arrive while the gunman fled.
Olsen said Thursday afternoon that detectives have leads on both the driver and the vehicle, but have not yet made an arrest.
