SAN DIEGO (AP) — The annual pop-culture convention known as Comic-Con is under way in San Diego -- and the upcoming seventh film in the "Star Wars" series is foremost in the minds of many fans.

More than 130,000 fans are expected at the San Diego Convention Center over the next four days for autograph signings, TV and film presentations, toy shopping, costume contests and other artistic engagements inspired by comic books and superheroes.

"Star Wars" has a major presence. There's a mini-mall of booths dedicated to its characters. Fans can find Chewbacca rugs and Storm Trooper sweaters, along with limited-edition Darth Vader skateboard decks and Yoda backpacks.

One woman in a Captain America costume says she plans to spend tonight waiting in line for tomorrow afternoon's presentation on "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," which opens in December. Kristen McLaughlin of Los Angeles says, "Everyone loves 'Star Wars.'"
