SALT LAKE CITY -- Many Utah college students can expect to shell out at least 10 percent more for tuition next year.
According to the Salt Lake Tribune, administrators and trustees at two major universities are planning hikes. That could be between 7.5 percent and 9.5 percent at the University of Utah. At Southern Utah University, they're planning an increase between 10 and 15 percent.
Weber State University and Utah Valley University are also considering tuition hikes in the 10 percent range.
Tuition at colleges in Utah has doubled over the past 10 years, an increase of nearly three times the rate of inflation. Still, administrators say tuition in Utah is still below similar schools across the nation.
