SOUTH SALT LAKE -- Formal charges are now filed against two men in connection with a murder in South Salt Lake last month.

Charging documents say Jason Davis, 36, and Chad Nester Jr., 24, planned to rob Steven Villiard when they entered his home.

However, the Salt Lake Tribune reports, they were not expecting Villiard, 64, to defend himself -- and Davis shot and killed him when he came at them with a baseball bat.

They then ransacked the house and demanded money from a woman who was also there at the time.

All told, they got away with about two dollars.

Davis and Nester are each charged with first-degree felony murder, felony robbery, and aggravated burglary.
